New Delhi: Doctors are on strike across the country today against the decision to allow Ayurveda students to undergo surgery. Protests will be held under the leadership of Indian Medical Association (IMA). OPD services will remain closed in clinics, dispensaries and hospitals from 6 am to 6 pm, but emergency medical and covid related treatment services will continue.
Dr Rajan Sharma, national president of IMA, said that allowing Ayurveda students to perform surgery is giving rise to mixedpathy. This may also endanger the medical profession in the coming days. The Government should immediately stop it. Dr R.P. Parashar, president of the Integrated Medical Association, said that the permission that is being contested is not fair. Ayurveda has given surgery to the whole world. Now, if the government allows Ayurvedic doctors to have surgery, what is wrong with it? This is the right of Ayurveda doctors which the government has brought.
According to IMA, doctors will be on strike in 10,000 clinics, dispensaries and hospitals in the country. Dr Rajan Sharma says the government still has not taken cognizance of their demands and the protests may be raging in the coming days.
