Last year's runners-up Daniil Medvedev of Russia defeated world number 138 Jez Wolfe in straight sets to make it to the fourth round of the final Grand Slam US Open of the year. Medvedev defeated American 21-year-old JJ in straight sets 6-3 6-3 6-2 in the men's singles third round match. In the fourth round, Medvedev will face America's Francis Tifoe who defeated Hungary's Matren Fuksovics 6-2,6-3,6-2. After the match, he said, "It is a good thing that I was able to finish the match in 3 sets. It is very difficult not to play tennis in 6 months, so it is very difficult to recover from a match of four or five sets."

Spain's Robert Bautista Agut was defeated by Canada's Vasek Pospisli in a 5-set marathon match. Wasek defeated this match 7-5, 2-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to make it to the fourth round. Another Canadian player Felix Agur Eliassime has also secured the position in the fourth round. Felix, who defeated Andy Murray, defeated France's Corentin Moutet 6–1, 6–0, 6–4 in the third tour.
