Lucknow:  Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, CM Yogi Adityanath had warned the criminals during the campaign that he would make UP Shimla even in the heat of May-June. May-June did not come, but the warmness of the criminals seems to be calming down now. Within 15 days of the BJP's resounding comeback in UP, so far 50 criminals have gone to the police stations and surrendered. These criminals are either afraid of police encounters or bulldozers running on houses.

Now, these criminals have gone to the police stations with placards wrapped around their necks and have surrendered. The placards read, "I am surrendering, please don't shoot." Prashant Kumar, ADG Law and Order, UP, said that 50 criminals have not only surrendered in the police stations but have also committed the need not to commit the crime. A police official said, "Prompt and stringent action is being taken to improve law and order under micro-planning to create panic among criminals in every nook and corner of the state. Zero tolerance towards crime is not only about effective action on the mafia, but is also about fresh vigilance and intensive patrolling by UP-112. There have been no communal riots in the state since 2017.''

Let us know that the surrender of criminals in UP started after March 10. On March 15, 2022, Gautam Singh, who was absconding in connection with a case of kidnapping and extortion in Saharanpur, surrendered at the Chhapia police station in the Gonda district. Within three days, 23 criminals surrendered simultaneously at the Chilkana police station in Saharanpur. In Deoband too, four criminals surrendered and vowed that they would never commit any further offence. The same happened in Shamli, where the 18 accused in cow slaughter went to Garhipukhata and Thanabhawan police stations and surrendered. Honey alias Himanshu surrendered pleading not to be shot. At the same time, while the people of UP are breathing a sigh of relief after seeing these criminals themselves reaching the police station, it is also asking that if the Samajwadi Party government had been formed in the state, would these criminals have reached the police station to surrender, or would the people suffering from them have gone to the police stations?
