Visakhapatnam: Addressing a gathering against the privatization of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), MP MVV Satyanarayana urged the BJP government not to take the Ukku movement lightly and if they intensify the movement, it would cost the central government a heavy price. Will have to pay He said that the Center took the wrong decision towards privatization of the steel plant against the wishes of the local people, VSP employees, state government and political parties. Satyanarayana demanded that the Center should withdraw its decision and put the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in the public sector.

Protesting the Centre's decision to privatize the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) on Sunday, the longest human chain was formed from Aganampudi Junction to Akkireddypalem. More than 10,000 workers of the plant, leaders of various political parties and volunteers formed a 10-km long human chain in the event organized by the Vishakha Ukku Pariksha Porata Samiti.

Anakapalle MP BV Satyavati said that the YSRCP opposed the decision of 100 per cent disinvestment of VSPs made by the central government. Speaking on the occasion, former minister Bandaru Satyanarayanamurthy said that the TDP would work with the YSRCP in the Ukku movement under the leadership of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Former MLC MVS Sarma called upon the people of the state and political parties to unite against the Centre's decision. Committee representatives, leaders of various political parties including YSRCP, TDP and JSP, representatives of various trade unions, VSP employees and their family members, contract workers attended the event.
