Ujjain: The Mahashivratri festival began at 2:30 pm in avantika, the city of the world popular Jyotirlinga Baba Mahakal. As soon as the temple opened, a special puja abhishek of Baba Mahakal was performed by the pandits. In the abhisheka, Baba was bathed and consumed with panchamrit and various kinds of fruit juices. From 5 a.m., a long line of devotees started to form. Devotees from all over the country have started arriving at the temple. 

Let us tell you that in Ujjain, the city of Baba Mahakal only in the world, there is a tradition of celebrating the Mahashivaratri festival in the form of Shivnavaratra since 9 days ago. Due to this, baba's special makeup is done. Hari Kirtan is performed in the temple continuously for 9 days late in the evening. Baba's sehra is decorated with 3 quintals of flowers. Baba is offered gold ornaments, moon, tripunda and tilak. 1.5 lakh bel patras will be offered and mahadev's name will be written on every bell letter. Late this evening, 21 lakh will be from Deepo to Avantika Nagari Raun. More than 13,000 volunteers will light 14 lakh lamps on the ghats. 

Many big names including the same Chief Minister Shivraj will participate in the Shiv Jyoti Arpanam event. Devotees will not be able to see this divine view of the world record from the ghat. You will also not be able to enter the sanctum sanctorum and Nandihal in the temple. Due to arrangements, devotees will be prohibited from coming to the ghat till 8:00 pm. In the temple, you will be able to enter the sanctum sanctorum only after the Mahashivratri festival. In the entire Ujjain city, people will complete the total figure of 21 lakh by lighting lamps in houses and in public places. The same today, after the bhasmarti, the darshan benefit was received by all the devotees by adorning them with clothes. From 7:30 to 8:15 pm, the Dadiodak Aarti was performed, between 10 and 10:30 p.m., there will be a special jalabhishek of Baba, which is called the short-aged abhishek. 10:30 to 11:15 Bhong Aarti, followed by the chairman of the priest, 11 Brahmins are seated, who will perform two and a half hours of special puja Abhishek Daubara and in the same two and a half hours from 12 to 1 pm, tehsil abhishek will be performed by the administrative officers. Then the Lord will give darshan to the devotees in formless form. At 5:30 pm, the evening aarti will be held and the darshan will continue till 12 o'clock.
