‘Lockdown prevented 37 to 78 thousand deaths’: Harsh Vardhan in Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Opposition is constantly attacking the central government over the lockdown implemented to stop the coronavirus epidemic. During this, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday counted the benefit of the nationwide lockdown in the Upper House. Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the lockdown has helped prevent nearly 14 lakh to 29 lakh cases and 37,000 to 78,000 deaths.

He said the four months of the lockdown were used to create additional health infrastructure, strengthen human resources and the production of important items such as PPE, N95 masks and ventilators in India. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also said that India has one of the lowest rates in the world, per 1 million deaths. Apart from this, the recovery rate has also become much better in the country.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that due to coronavirus in India, the death rate has reached 1.67 percent and recovery rate 77.65 percent. Dr. Harshvardhan said that India is capable of limiting the cases of death and corona infection. We have 3,320 cases and 55 deaths per million. This figure is much lower than the world.
