New Delhi: Before becoming the President of the country, Draupadi Murmu used to go with her three sisters to serve at Brahma Kumari Ashram in Rairangpur, Odisha. Leena Behen, a close associate of hers, says that here she used to work from serving food to cleaning utensils. Her association with this remote village lasted from 2009 to 2013. Even after becoming an MLA, Draupadi Murmu was committed to serving the people there.
After being sworn in as president, Draupadi Murmu will now visit the Brahma Kumari headquarters at Mount Abu for the first time on September 11. Here she will address a session at the organization's Global Summit. Railways and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will also be present. He will be accompanied by Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy, several secretary-level IAS officers of Rajasthan and the Central government and a team of Brahma Kumari from London.
He has been associated with the spiritual organization since 2009. An official said on the condition of anonymity, 'She came to us when she was in her worst phase. This place helped her to find her way and to find her rightful place in the world.'
