Reports from Russian news agencies indicate that a fire erupted on Saturday at an oil refinery in the Samara region following a drone attack, as stated by the regional governor. Governor Dmitri Azarov conveyed in a statement via the regional government's Telegram channel, "Last night, there were several drone attacks against regional oil refineries."

Azarov further mentioned that one of these assaults triggered a fire at the Kuibyshev oil refinery, which fortunately resulted in no casualties. Operated by the Russian oil giant Rosneft, this refinery stands as one of the largest in the Samara region, boasting an annual production capacity of 7 million tonnes of oil, according to its official website.

Regarding another refinery in Samara, Novokuibyshevsk, Azarov reported that a drone attack on it was successfully repelled without inflicting damage to the facility's technological equipment.

Highlighting the broader context, Azarov expressed, "We see that the enemy, who is suffering defeats on the battlefield, is doing everything possible to undermine our endurance and unity."

Separately, the Russian defense ministry disclosed in a press release that it thwarted "12 Ukrainian drones" overnight over the regions of Bryansk, Belgorod, and Voronezh—regions bordering Ukraine, along with Saratov.

Amidst a heightened conflict between Ukraine and Russia over the past two years, Ukraine has intensified its attacks within Russian territory in recent weeks, notably targeting energy facilities. Kyiv had vowed to retaliate for the numerous bombardments on its own soil.
