Drones banned around ISB Hyderabad for PM Modi's visit

HYDERABAD: In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Indian School of Business (ISB) on Thursday, the Hyderabad police have banned the use of remote-controlled drones, paragliders, and remote-controlled micro-light aircraft near the institute.

Drones, paragliders, and micro-light aircraft will not be permitted within a 5-kilometer radius of ISB, Gachibowli, and Gachibowli Stadium in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate's authority. From 12 p.m. on May 25 to 6 p.m. on May 26, the limitations will be in effect.

On Tuesday, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, who is also the Cyberabad in-charge commissioner, issued a notification under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.  According to the announcement, anyone who violates the order will be prosecuted under the Indian Penal Code's Sections 188, 121, 121(a), 287, 336, 337, 338, and others.

"Intelligence agencies have received inputs about the possibility of terrorist/antisocial elements attacking using para-gliders, remote-controlled drones, remote-controlled micro-light aircraft, and there is every likelihood of breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquilly, as well as grave danger to human life, health, safety, and damage to public property," the notification reads.

The notification cited a memorandum issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, ISI Division / VIP Security, Central government, which warned that terrorists and anti-social elements could plan attacks using paragliders, remote-controlled drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, and that event organisers are increasingly turning to remote-controlled drones for aerial views for live telecasts and photography of various events.
