Ahmedabad: Indian Navy, NCB, and Gujarat ATS have jointly conducted an operation seizing a large consignment of narcotics from Kutch, Gujarat. The seized drugs amount to 3100 kilograms, marking the largest narcotics haul in the Indian subcontinent to date. The estimated international market value of these drugs exceeds ₹2000 crores. In terms of volume, this is the largest drug consignment intercepted so far.

According to information received by the Indian Navy, the apprehended narcotics were being smuggled from Iran. Upon receiving this intelligence, the operation was launched and lasted for two days at sea. Subsequently, the Indian Navy intercepted the suspicious vessel as it attempted to breach Indian maritime borders, leading to its seizure and subsequent investigation. During the operation, drugs worth millions of rupees were recovered from the ship. Five crew members aboard the vessel were detained during the operation. There are suspicions that the apprehended individuals, who have been taken to Porbandar, Gujarat, may have links to Pakistan.

Indian security agencies are gathering information from the apprehended individuals regarding the drugs and their trafficking network, including details such as the origin of the drugs, intended recipients, and the mastermind behind the operation. The seized drugs are labeled as 'Produce of Pakistan'. The haul includes 2950 kilograms of hashish, 160 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 25 kilograms of morphine. It is noteworthy that the Indian Navy has previously seized drugs worth millions of rupees in several operations along the Indian maritime borders. Drug cartels attempt to smuggle drugs into India through maritime routes, but the vigilance of Indian security agencies has thwarted their efforts time and again.
