Team India's former middle order batsman S Badrinath's international career could not last long. Despite being a great batsman, he could not succeed in maintaining his place in Team India for more days. Badri himself expressed that he did everything to make a place in the team but due to being a great batsman like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh, he missed the opportunity.

Badrinath said, 'Whatever I could do, I did everything. The batting order was tight from all sides, Sachin, Rahul, Laxman, Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj. One thing that I did was to focus on bowling a little bit. I used to make a very good off-spin bowling as an all-rounder in the team and some wickets were also obtained.'

In 2008, Badri made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka while in 2010 he got the opportunity to make his Test debut against South Africa in Nagpur in 2010. The only T20 match of his career, Badri played against the West Indies in 2011 in Port of Spain. 'There was not much help at my time. If instead of making a position as a batsman, I would have got a place in the team like an all-rounder. I would bat at number 6 or 7 and play the role of the third spinner.' He would have done better in whatever he could do in batting.
