Dutch Paddler Tests Covid positive,16 New Cases At Tokyo Olympics

"From the ongoing game the Dutch men's doubles team has withdrawn from the Tokyo Games after one of the pair, Jean-Julien Rojer, tested positive for Covid-19", the International Tennis Federation said. Rojer is the first tennis player and the sixth member of the Dutch Olympic committee to test positive so far. The others include a skateboarder, a taekwondo player, a rower, and two staff of the rowing team.

"Rojer and his partner Wesley Koolhof, who was cataloged to play in the second round on Monday afternoon, have been placed in quarantine", the ITF said. Their opponents, Marcus Daniell and Michael Venus of New Zealand will receive a walkover into the quarterfinals.

Let us tell you that the three athletes and seven Games-concerned personnel have been put under the mandatory 14-day quarantine. The total number of Games-concerned personnel to have tested positive so far reached 83 after the addition of 8 new cases. The contingents that have been hit by COVID-19 after landing in Tokyo include the Czech Republic, the USA, Chile, South Africa, and the Netherlands among others.
