Bishnupur: National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported that an earthquake of 3.5 magnitude hit Manipur’s Bishnupur on Thursday at 9.05 pm. It hit 17 kilometers west of Bishnupur at a depth of 36 kilometres. No loss of life or damage to property due to disaster was reported.
This is not the first case of earthquake in the Mainpur . Earlier, The earthquake of 5.1 magnitude hit Manipur at 4.16 pm on June 21. Earth Science Department of Manipur University had said that the epicentre of the quake is located 9 km from Ngopa area of the neighbouring state of Mizoram.
Earlier on May 22 also NCS reported that the earthquake initially recorded at 3.6 magnitude, hit East of Ukhrul, Manipur at around 3:26 am on Friday morning. It said, "An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter Scale hit 43 km East of Ukhrul, Manipur today at 03:26 am." In this earthquake which lasted for few second, No loss of life or damage to property has been reported.
