TRIPURA:The Election Commission of India (ECI) today, January 21, issued the notification for the 13th Assembly election to sixty constituencies in Tripura, an official said.

Candidates will now be permitted to submit their nomination papers till January 30. The scrutiny will be done on January 31 and the deadline for withdrawal of candidature is February 2.

According to the schedule, voting in the 60 Assembly districts will take place on February 16 and the results will be announced on March 2, according to Additional Chief Electoral Officer (ACEO) Subhasish Bandopadhyay said.

There are a total of 28,13,478 electors that are eligible to vote in the next elections. The final election rolls included a record 65,044 new voters. All 3,328 polling places will have webcasting to ensure free and fair elections. "Minimum ensured amenities" have been provided in every voting booth, he added, adding that they all have access to drinking water, electricity, restrooms, and ramps.

Security measures have been reinforced throughout the northeastern state, and paramilitary troops are conducting area dominance exercises to boost voter trust. To oversee the security measures in the state that will soon hold elections, three Special Observers appointed by the Election Commission are scheduled to arrive soon.
