Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) yesterday questioned former Union Minister and senior NCP leader Praful Patel on Friday in connection with the property transactions with Iqbal Mirchi, partner of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The Enforcement Directorate issued summons two days ago. On this, Patel reached the ED office in South Mumbai on Friday morning. According to officials, the statement of the NCP leader was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act on the land deal between Iqbal Mirchi's wife and Patel's company.

According to the investigating agency, Patel's real estate company Millennium Developers Private Limited built the building called CJ House in 2006-07. The third and fourth floors of this building were transferred in the name of Mirza's wife Hajra Iqbal. The land on which this building is built was purchased by Mirchi. Investigating officials claim that the land was purchased with money laundering, drugs smuggling and extortion money. However, Patel says that the entire transaction was done under the law.

It is alleged that Patel's family company allegedly entered into a financial partnership and land deal with the family of Iqbal Memon Mirchi, close to Dawood Ibrahim. However, Patel has denied all the allegations. He said that it contains fictitious ideas and papers, which have been leaked in the media.
