New Delhi, Today, the nation was greeted by Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and she said that, the Prophet's teachings of love and peaceful co-existence have immense value to help strengthen the country.

"The Holy Prophet's teachings of honesty, love, peace, compassion, equity and peaceful co-existence have immense value to strengthen our nation and enrich brotherhood", said Sonia Gandhi in her congratulations to those who undertook the Ramadan fast.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims the world over who abstain from taking food and water during the period extending from 30 minutes before the sunrise to sunset.
