Ranchi: Assembly elections have been held in Jharkhand. The Election Commission has announced the dates. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has said in a press conference on Friday that the new assembly in the state will start from January 5. With the announcement of the Election Commission, the code of conduct has come into force in the state.

He said that assembly elections will be held in five phases in Jharkhand. He said that the first phase will be voted on November 30, while the second phase will be held on December 7. The third phase will be voted on December 12, while the fourth and fifth phase elections will be held on December 16 and 20 respectively. At the same time, Sunil Arora has said that the counting of votes will be done on December 23 and the results will be released on this day. He informed that due to being a Naxal-affected state, elections are being held in 5 phases.

The term of the 81-member assembly in Jharkhand ends on January 5 next year. The state currently has a BJP-AJSU (All Jharkhand Student Union) coalition government. Raghuvar Das is currently the Chief Minister of the state. The Chief Election Commissioner informed that there will be 29464 polling stations for the assembly elections and all facilities will be available at the polling station.
