New Delhi: The Election Commission also wants to implement PM Narendra Modi's appeal to ban single use polythene from all over the country from October 2. According to the sources in the commission, with the announcement of the elections in Haryana and Maharashtra, the commission will appeal to all political parties not to use polythene in campaigning. Not only this, but the Commission will also write a letter to all political parties and ask them to implement this matter.

According to Election Commission sources, the flags that are commonly used in the election campaign are mostly plastic. Apart from this, water pouches used during election rallies are also of plastics. Not only this, the Commission will also send a complete list of plastic items to political parties in a letter written to political parties, which is not to be used in elections.

The Election Commission is also considering calling a meeting of all political parties for this. However, before the Lok Sabha elections, in the month of February also, the Commission had appealed not to use plastic in the election campaign. Even after the instructions of the Election Commission, if a political party uses plastic material, there will be a provision for action against it, but these actions will be carried out by the agencies implementing the plastic ban.
