New Delhi: A team of Election Commission reached the Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi on Sunday due to the movement against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Citizenship Register (NRC). The Election Commission team has made this visit to Shaheen Bagh to see the preparations for a peaceful election. There is a possibility of disturbances on the day of voting in Shaheen Bagh.

On Saturday evening, a person opened fire in Shaheen Bagh, which has become the center of anti-CAA protest, after which there was an atmosphere of chaos. However, the police stationed there immediately arrested the young man who had fired. The shooting incident in Shaheen Bagh comes at a time when a teenager was shot dead on a march by Jamia students on Thursday, two days before, in which a student of Jamia Millia Islamia University was injured.

Since the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Act by the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, protests have been going on in Jamia He Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi. People opposing this law are calling it unconstitutional and religiously biased.
