Ranchi: Jharkhand Additional Chief Electoral Officer Shailesh Kumar Chaurasia has said that during the assembly elections, vehicles carrying electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be tracked with the Global Positioning System (GPS). Chaurasia said in a one-day training program organized for Information Officer (DIO) of all the districts about GPS tracking here that GPS will be installed in the deputed sector magistrate's vehicle to carry the EVMs.

Accordingly, there will be GPS tracking to take the EVMs to the polling station and bring the EVMs after voting. Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that GPS tracking will also be done on the movement of reserve EVMs if required on polling day. He said that he will be able to track the movement of EVMs through an app designed for this task.

In Jharkhand, assembly elections will be held in five phases. The first phase will be held on November 30, while the second phase will be held on December 7. The third phase will be held on December 12, while the fourth and fifth phase elections will be held on December 16 and 20 respectively. The counting of votes will take place on December 23 and the results will be released on the same day. Actually, elections are being held in 5 phases due to being a Naxalite affected state.
