VIJAYAWADA: Partha Ghosh, a well-known West Bengal elocutionist and recitation artist, died on Saturday in a private hospital in the Howrah district. His age was 83.
His wife, Gouri Ghosh, also an eminant elocutionist and recitation artist, passed away on August 28 last year. The late couple is survived by their son Ayan Ghosh.
Partha Ghosh had been suffering from age-related diseases for some time, according to family sources, and had been admitted to a private hospital in Howrah, where he had recently had surgery. He died at 7.30 a.m. after a major heart arrest early Saturday morning.
His mortals will initially be brought to his Dum Dum apartment before being cremated in North Kolkata. Partha and Gouri Ghosh both began their careers as selection-grade announcers with All India Radio, with whom they remained for a long time.
