CHENNAI:: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami, popularly known as EPS, will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today, April 26.
Palaniswami will be accompanied by party state organising secretary and former minister D Jayakumar, Ex-ministers and senior leaders, SP Velumani, KP Muniswamy, C.V Shanmugam and P Thangamani, among others.
The opposition delegation will draw attention to the allegations of corruption against the current DMK administration as well as the state's deteriorating law and order situation. A discussion on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is expectedat EPS, because of the strained relationship between the AIADMK and the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit. K. Annamalai, the president of the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit, has publicly and surreptitiously denounced the AIADMK, to which the latter has issued a vehement response.
The AIADMK team would also call attention to the party's decision to withdraw D. Anbarasan, a candidate for the Pulikeshi Nagar Assembly constituency, from the Karnataka Assembly election after senior BJP leaders in Delhi asked EPS to do so.
Notably, in the Pulikeshi Nagar constituency, the BJP leader Murali ran against the AIADMK candidate.
The BJP central leadership is anxious to maintain a positive connection with AIADMK because without a strong Dravidian party, the saffron party has little prospect of winning even one seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
