In the past, after being sentenced to death by the court, the Pakistan Army will try to save the former President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, with the help of Imran Khan's government. This is claimed by a think tank called the European Foundation for South Asian Studies (EFSAS). Significantly, former President Musharraf was sentenced to death in a sedition case recently. Musharraf filed a petition in the Lahore High Court on Friday challenging the conviction. With this move of the army, there are speculations that his hanging may be postponed.

If you do not know, then let us tell you that this decision given by a special court was described as unprecedented and historical. This was the first time in the history of seven decades that an army chief (serving or retired) faced trial. According to a report by a European think tank, this decision may threaten the military's domination in Pakistan.

The army has always dominated Pakistan's politics. The biggest example of this has been Musharraf himself, who overthrew the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1999 and ruled for eight years. After the verdict, the leaders and the judiciary seem to be challenging the military's suzerainty. The odds are low. This is because Prime Minister Imran Khan is acting like an army legend. Many such occasions have come up when the Imran Khan government has shown standing with the army on the judicial and political front.
