New Delhi: Due to pollution in Delhi-NCR, the Supreme Court had banned firecrackers, but the people of Delhi flouted the order of the Supreme Court and burst fireworks. After people burst crackers on Diwali night, a thick layer of smog covered the national capital, causing heavy pollution in the entire city.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) says that the air quality across Delhi remains in the 'poor' category. AQI was 296 in Anand Vihar, 290 in RK Puram, 280 in Punjabi Bagh and 263 in ITO. Let us tell you that in the scenes from different parts of Delhi, dense fog is seen on the roads, due to which the visibility has reduced a lot and it has become difficult to see beyond a few hundred meters. Latest posts and reports shared on social media sites have revealed that a large number of people have taken part in bursting crackers at different places.

Scenes from Lodhi Road, RK Puram, Karol Bagh and Punjabi Bagh on Sunday night also saw intense fireworks lighting up the night sky over many areas of the national capital. The air quality in Delhi's Duty Path, Azadpur, Rajghat and also in Noida has fallen into the poor category. It is worth noting that the national capital has been struggling with pollution for the last few weeks. The AQI reached the 'severe' category at many places and remained toxic for several days, but post Diwali, it is now very likely that the national capital will once again see a rise in pollution levels, adding to the health scare for people. Difficulties will increase.

Recently, the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government in Delhi imposed a complete ban on firecrackers. In view of the pollution situation, the government also came up with the idea of 'artificial rain' to deal with the bad air in the city, until sudden rains brought great relief, reducing the pollution levels.
