Even though L. Murugan has now become a Union minister in Tamil Nadu, his aged parents are working on the ground to make a living. Loganathan and Varudammal, Ministers of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan has parents who work in the fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy sectors. The same report states that the couple lives in Konur village (about 400 km from here) in Namakkal district and is leading their life independently. According to a report, the couple, belonging to the Arunthathiyar community, a Dalit sub-sect, live in a small house. 

He was doing agriculture in a field when he heard that his son Murugan was about to become a Union minister. Varudammal (the Union minister's mother) told a journalist that he had done nothing to advance his son's career, though he felt proud of his son's condition. The parents had borrowed money for their son's studies, which they spent on Murugan. Advocate-cum-politician Murugan told Dr. Studied Law from Ambedkar Law College.

Along with this, he has also appeared in many cases for BJP as an advocate related to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The couple has not changed their behavior after their son became the state chief of the national party or became a Union minister. But he remains determined to his goal of being free. According to a villager, Loganathan was standing in Laika to get the Corona help given by the state government. Murugan was studious since childhood, his father said. He completed his schooling in government schools before studying law at Ambedkar Law College, Chennai.
