All-rounder Axar Patel, who replaced Ravindra Jadeja in the Australia series on a like-for-like basis, worked his magic in the series finale on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. In the third and final T20I of the bilateral series between India and Australia at Hyderabad, the star all-rounder was the series' chief wrecker.

After the seasoned all-rounder, Jadeja was forced to withdraw from the whole Asia Cup owing to injury, Axar took his place in the T20I team. Jadeja, a seasoned performer for the Rohit Sharma-led team in all formats, will also be absent from the forthcoming ICC World T20. Ajay Jadeja, a former Indian cricketer, praised Axar, Jadeja's replacement after the Australia series was over and described how Axar seized the chance.

Muralitharan's statement on Deepti Sharma's 'Mankading'

"Once Axar Patel had that first game, the kind of quality that he showed, it looked like he had it. He has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. We all miss Ravindra Jadeja, but nobody is missing him from the bowling point of view. Axar Patel has added to the bowling attack, he bats well, it's only fielding where he cannot match him," Jadeja told Cricbuzz.

Aaron Finch, Matthew Wade, and Josh Inglis were all key wickets that Axar took in the series-deciding match between India and Australia. The all-three rounder's wickets and 33 runs allowed India to defeat Australia by six wickets on Sunday. For his bowling prowess, Axar was also named the Player of the Series.

Jadeja also discussed India's victory over Australia in the series. After a thrilling victory over Australia on Sunday in the final over, India, led by Rohit, also broke Pakistan's world record.

"When you look now, the stability is there, they are sure of the people that they want and sure of how they want to play. That, for me, is a very important aspect going into the World Cup. All of the question marks have been answered. The stability of the team, in terms of mindset, is the biggest positive to come out of this series," Jadeja added.
