A chilling encounter between a family and a massive king cobra has left the internet shaken. The incident occurred in Agumbe, Karnataka, when a family spotted a 12-foot-long king cobra hiding in a bush in their residential area. The family immediately informed the forest department, which rescued the snake and released it back into the wild.

The shocking video of the rescue operation has gone viral on social media, leaving many in awe of the snake's enormity. The video was shared by Ajay Giri, the field director of the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station (ARRS), on Instagram. The footage shows the massive snake coiled around a tree branch, its hood spread wide, and its piercing eyes fixed on the camera.

According to Giri, the snake was first spotted crossing a main road and later hiding in a bush in the family's compound. "The snake might have been disturbed by the presence of people on the road and sought refuge in the bush," he explained.

The rescue team carefully extracted the snake from the bush and released it into a safe area of the forest. The video shows the team handling the snake with caution, acknowledging its massive size and strength.

The family who encountered the snake was understandably shaken, and their experience serves as a reminder of the importance of coexisting with wildlife. The king cobra, known for its venomous fangs, is a protected species in India, and efforts are being made to conserve its habitat and population.

The viral video has sparked a mix of reactions, with some expressing fear and others admiration for the snake's majesty. However, the incident highlights the need for awareness and caution when dealing with wildlife, especially in areas where humans and animals intersect.

As Giri noted, "The snake was rescued and released back into the wild, and we hope it will thrive in its natural habitat." The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting and preserving wildlife, even in the face of fear and uncertainty.
