The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations was found in 16 October, 1945 and as a honor World Food Day is celebrated on October 16 every year. This year, 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of FAO during which the world is dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak response. To recognize the right of everyone to food, the Nobel Peace Prize 2020 was given to FAO.

The FAO understands every citizen’s right to food and hence proposes a change in the food systems across the world and is constantly motivating people to adopt changes to ensure a hunger free world. World Food Day is also sends message to governments, NGOs, businesses, cities and individuals to improve the access to food for everyone and reduce the impact of malnutrition on the global economy. The flaw in the current food system is indicated by the increase in the number of hungry people in spite of surplus production. An affordable and healthy diet for everyone is the future and can be done by preserving natural resources and biodiversity and tackling challenges like climate change.

FAO asks people to close the gap between people who take food for granted and those who need it badly. FAO wants to provide safe and nutritious access to food amid of corona. The FAO said the pandemic made us to realize how important it was to keep the food supply chain running, "While 700 million people were undernourished before COVID-19, now economic disturbance may add about 130 million to the number”. The main scenario difference between 1945 and 2020 is the production. It is adequate in 2020. It says contribution from all society helps to fight against hunger.
