New Delhi: The continuous agitation against the agricultural law is now having an impact on the plates of the general public as well. There is a tremendous demonstration of farmers on the Indus border connecting Delhi to Punjab and Haryana. The Tikari border also connects Punjab with Haryana and Delhi. Its effect is also seen on the movement of food supplies. This season is of new potatoes coming from Punjab. It is becoming difficult to enter trucks that bring potatoes. Due to the shortage of trucks, traders are going through a shortage of potato.

Ghazipur market has also been affected, where the prices of potatoes have increased due to reduced potato prices. There is a slowdown when the onions do not go out of Delhi. Potato is being sold in Ghazipur for about Rs.3500 to Rs.1700 / 50 kg. Onion prices have fallen by 15-20 rupees.

The new potato was supposed to come from Punjab, but now only a few trucks of potato are able to reach Delhi secretly. Farmers are selling those potatoes in the local market while harvesting at some border. Onions are also deteriorating due to its supply not going out. Farmers are suffering the most due to this. Wholesaler of potato-onion in Ghazipur, Rajesh Sharma tells that it is time for new potato, there is a lot of demand for it. Due to the lack of supply of potatoes, the general public is facing this inflation and small scale farmers are also facing problems. At present, there are storage potatoes coming from UP, otherwise, the difficulty would have increased.
