Farooq Abdullah again advocated for holding elections in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) national president Farooq Abdullah, while speaking to the press in Srinagar's Lalbazar, criticised the Lieutenant Governor (LG) regime, saying that not having elections in Jammu and Kashmir is causing a lot of damage, as democracy works only when elections are held. An LG and his advisors cannot look after the entire state. Each place has an MLA who can see their area. It is a responsibility.

Abdullah has said that there is a bureaucracy in the state, who does not have to worry because he does not retire for 60 years. An MLA has to go to the people every five years. If it doesn't work, people won't vote for it, that's why it's very important that elections should be held here. LG Manoj Sinha had given a statement in Beerwah Budgam district that the time has come that elections will be transparent and no one can hijack democracy.

Reacting to Sinha's statement, Farooq Abdullah said, "In a state of democracy hijacking, is there no way to approach the court or approach the Election Commission?" In a similar situation, Indira Gandhi was thrown out of the election. On the conclusion of the G-20, Farooq Abdullah said that the biggest benefit is that the roads have been made. The colors were painted, the lights started moving, we benefited from it, but now we have to see whether tourism will come from there.
