PANAJI: Goa State Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho announced the 'Goa Industrial Growth and Investment Promotion Policy' on Thursday, emphasising the importance of 'Faster clearances for faster growth of industry' to promote the state's industrial sector.
Godinho told a press conference that under the new policy, industrialists will not need to visit numerous offices to obtain approvals, but that the 'Common Application Form' will ensure that they may start their operation as soon as possible.
"For various reasons, we were lacking in this area. The government is attempting to boost industry sectors and assist in the expansion of existing ones. Also, in order to stimulate and assist emerging industries in a major scale, "he said. The government's priority was to assist established local firms and individuals. "We've also concentrated on making it easier to do business, land reforms, incentives for current and new firms, and other provisions," he said, adding that the land available with IDC and others will be displayed in a 'land bank'.
"It essentially states that anyone wishing to establish an industry in Goa must do it within a certain time frame. It used to take a lot of time before documentation. We're even attempting to automate the process of issuing declaration-based permissions. The maximum duration for larger units will be three months, while smaller units will only be two months "Godinho concluded.
