Kochi: The Monkeypox epidemic has slowly started spreading across India. In this sequence, the fifth case of monkeypox has been reported in Kerala. The state's health ministry has been quoted as saying that the patient who returned from the UAE has been found to be infected with monkeypox. With this, the number of monkeypox patients in the country has now increased to 7.

Media reports quoting the Health Ministry said that a man who returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Kerala has been found to be infected with monkeypox. According to information, Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Tuesday said that the youth found infected is undergoing treatment in Malappuram. He arrived at Kozhikode airport from UAE on July 27. This is the fifth case from Kerala at a time when a man died of monkeypox in Kerala on Saturday. He also recently came to India from UAE. The monkeypox virus was found in his investigation report.  

Also, 20 people have  been isolated in Trichur following the death of a man with monkeypox-like symptoms on Monday. At the same time, the second case of monkeypox was reported in the capital Delhi on Monday. According to sources, the infection has been detected in the African-origin national, who was admitted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital for treatment two days ago after being suspected, which was confirmed to have monkeypox in its report on Monday afternoon.
