SUVA:  Tourism Fiji released its Corporate Plan 2022-2024 on Tuesday, laying out a clear path for the industry and its partners to earn more money for the country over the next several years.

According to reports, Tourism Fiji Chair Andre Viljoen described the plan as a path for the industry to accomplish the overarching goal of Fijian Dollar 3 billion (USD1.4 billion) in visitor expenditure by the end of 2024.

While the global Covid-19 outbreak may have harmed the tourism industry, Viljoen believes it is currently on the mend. "The Tourism Fiji corporate strategy is a detailed document that describes Tourism Fiji's strategic aims and will serve as a roadmap for the next two years." It will motivate us to work more strategically and sustainably to direct our resources toward the correct objectives," he said. The goal, according to Tourism Fiji Chief Executive Brent Hill, is to restore the industry's contribution to the economy to pre-Covid levels.

Since the island nation reopened its borders in December of last year, it has attracted almost 119,000 overseas visitors.  In April, over 46,000 people visited the island nation, bringing the total number of visitors to over 95,000 for the year. Notably, this year, 4,47,000 visitors are scheduled to visit Fiji.
