PERTH: Having been deemed to have violated Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct by using inappropriate language during England's innings' ninth over, Australia T20I captain Aaron Finch is currently embroiled in an unsightly dispute.
The ICC reprimanded the experienced Australian cricketer, who is expected to step down as captain following the T20 World Cup at home, which starts on October 16. Reportedly, the stump microphone picked up the words.

On October 9, Australia had suffered an eight-run defeat in the first match of the three-match T20I series played here.
The use of an "audible obscenity during an International Match" is prohibited by Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which the Australia captain was found to have violated.

According to ICC, Finch accepted the wrongdoing, received a formal reprimand, and had one penalty point added to his disciplinary record.

Despite the fact that this was Finch's first infraction in the past 24 months, the seasoned player faces the possibility of a suspension should any other instances arise during the remaining matches in the series or at the next ICC T20 World Cup.

Four or more demerit points accrued within a 24-month period are converted to suspension points, which results in a player's ban. Before the defending champions begin their T20 World Cup campaign against New Zealand in Sydney on October 22, Finch will captain Australia in the final two Twenty20 Internationals against England in Canberra this week.
