New Delhi: A significant blaze broke out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on the morning of January 4. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported from the fire that engulfed the hospital's second floor.
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) sprang into action promptly, dispatching seven firefighters to the location at 5:59 AM upon receiving an emergency call. By 6:20 AM, the DFS confirmed that the fire had been successfully contained.
A representative from the DFS assured, "No one was injured in the incident."
AIIMS later released a statement identifying a refrigerator short circuit as the root cause of the fire. The hospital disclosed that the fire was first detected around 5:25 AM in room 2090 of the Reproductive Biology Department on the second floor. "Upon confirming the short circuit in the fridge, we immediately informed the security and fire control room, and the Delhi Fire Services were also promptly alerted," the statement read. It further added, "The fire was swiftly brought under control by AIIMS fire services with the support of the Delhi Fire Services team. Thankfully, no casualties were reported, and the property remained undamaged."
Separately, in a different incident, a chemical factory situated in Navi Mumbai also became the site of a fire outbreak. Upon their arrival, firefighters commenced their efforts to extinguish the flames. Immediate action was taken as soon as the fire department received the alert. As of now, there are no confirmed reports of fatalities or injuries.
