An 89 year old Dutch woman from Netherland is the first person across the old globe to die of corona virus re-infection. But in her case she was undergoing chemotherapy for blood cancer which is well known to lower the immunity of a person.

How long does the immunity developed exists : Reinfection Of CoronaVirus

She underwent a treatment of 5 days for her first COVID-19 infection with symptoms of high fever and severe cough. After 2 months from the discharge she again got fever, cough and difficulty in breathing after two days from her chemotherapy. The test reports on 4th and 6th days of the diagnosis of the symptoms show COVID-19 negative. But the second infection was severe and she was dead. A Gene test of the women shows a slight difference in the first and second attack of the virus. The question arises now is how long the immunity exists. There were several studies conducted across the globe on the life duration of the immunity. One study from Iceland shows the antibodies did not decline for at least 4 months and few others shows reinfection is possible within 6 months.

WHO warns nations who are taking the pandemic very lightly

Two cases in USA have corona reinfection within 2 months from the first time recovery. The Gene tests on them show two different strains of the virus confirming the second infection of the same virus. Around the globe 24 cases have been reported so far. The medical experts say it is possible to test negative and then again positive, but only the gene study conforms whether the second-time infection is the reinfection.
