Punjab province Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Chinese officials has inaugurated the first transport project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Sunday. The Project cost worth $2.2 billion took 6 year time to complete the project. The CPEC is included in the 13th five-year development plan of Chinese Government.

The inaugurated 27Km stretch Lahore Orange Line Metro Train will operate between Lahore's Dera Gujjran to Ali Town from Monday. The daily commuters beneficiary is estimated to be 250000. China has said Orange Line Train as a symbol of Pakistan-China friendship and is a gift for the people of Lahore.  The Pakistani drivers has been trained on how to operate the metros by the Chinese experts.

The CPEC is a collection of infrastructure and other projects under construction throughout Pakistan since 2013. During its sign, the project was valued at USD 46 billion. The value has grown up and as of 2020 calculations the projects were worth USD 62 billion. As per 2013 calculations, lot more sub projects worth more than $40billion is in development stage. The project aims CPEC is aimed to upgrade Pakistan's needed infrastructure and strengthen its economy by the construction of modern transportation networks, numerous energy projects, and special economic zones in a rapid manner.
