GANDHINAGAR: In a poignant ceremony, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel led the inauguration of Gujarat's very first 'Vanpal Memorial' at the serene Van Chetna Kendra in Gandhinagar. This solemn event coincided with the observance of 'National Forest Martyr' Day, a day etched in honor and remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives for the protection of our forests and wildlife.

Accompanying the Chief Minister were distinguished guests, including Forest Minister Mulu Bera, all gathered to pay their respects to the courageous eight forest martyrs of Gujarat. These heroes laid down their lives in the noble pursuit of safeguarding our precious natural treasures.

A profound moment of reflection enveloped the gathering as a two-minute silence was observed, an act of reverence for those who had made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

To ensure that the memory of these valiant forest workers endures for generations to come, a magnificent 'Forester Memorial' now stands tall at Van Chetna Kendra, nestled within Sector-30 of Gandhinagar. This memorial serves as a symbol of gratitude and a constant reminder of the unwavering commitment displayed by these brave souls.

Since 2013, National Forest Martyrs Day has served as an annual occasion to commemorate the indomitable courage and unwavering dedication of the forest department's frontline personnel. These dedicated individuals include forest guards, forest rangers, district forest officers, and other officers who, while fulfilling their duty, made the ultimate sacrifice in safeguarding the state's lush forests and precious wildlife. On this solemn day, we remember not only their sacrifices but also the enduring importance of preserving our natural heritage for the generations yet to come.
