Tokyo: 7 people have died due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Japan. According to local media reports, Japanese health officials have confirmed the deaths of 7 people till this morning. With this, 14 more deaths are yet to be officially confirmed. Rescuers have found 14 people with no signs of life at a nursing home in Kuma, Japan's Kumamoto province, on Saturday amidst heavy flooding in the Kuma River.

Along with this, one person has been pulled out of the landslide debris. Japan's Kumamoto and Kagoshima provinces have been disrupted by heavy rains, floods and landslides. Orders have been issued to evacuate more than two lakh local residents of the area. Japan's Meteorological Agency on Saturday alerted some areas of Kumamoto and Kagoshima about heavy rains.

According to local media reports, 10 people have gone missing in the floods on Saturday and two people have been found in critical condition from the landslide site. Japanese PM Shinzo Abe has sent 10,000 army personnel to assist the local rescuers engaged in relief work.
