Patna: Flood outbreak continues in Bihar. According to official data, more than 20 lakh population of 64 blocks in 12 districts of the state have been affected by the floods. These include Araria, Kishanganj, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, East Champaran, Supaul, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Katihar, Motihari, Betia and Muzaffarpur districts. The Kamla Balan river is said to have received so much water since 1987. The situation is extremely frightening.

Massive roads have been damaged due to flooding. A total of 31 people have lost their lives so far. According to the Disaster Management Department, 350 community kitchens are being run in flood-affected areas. Flood water has also started receding from several areas. The roads of flood-hit Sitamarhi were inspected on Monday. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Water Resources Minister Sanjay Jha conducted aerial surveys of the affected areas. Secretary, Department of Rural Development, Path Building Department and Department of Rural Affairs are also inspecting the affected areas.

According to official statistics, a total of 31 people have lost their lives in the floods so far. At least 11 people have died in Araria. The death toll in Sitamarhi is 10, Shivhar one, Kishanganj four, Motihari two, Madhubani two and Darbhanga. A compensation of four lakh rupees has been announced to the kin of all the deceased.
