Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav has been sentenced today i.e. on Monday in the fodder scam case related to Doranda Treasury. The court has sentenced Lalu Yadav to 5 years of imprisonment, as well as imposed a fine of 60 lakhs on him. On February 15, the Special Court of CBI had convicted Lalu Yadav and other accused in the fodder scam involving the Doranda Treasury of Rs 139.5 crore. However, the court had not announced the sentence at that time.

There were a total of 99 accused in the Doranda Treasury case. Out of this, 24 were acquitted, while 46 were convicted and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment. At that time the health of Lalu Yadav was not good. After the sentencing, Lalu was again admitted to RIMS Hospital. Lalu Yadav was found guilty under sections 120B, 420, 409, 467, 468, 471, 477A of the IPC and sections 13(1), 13(2)C under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Let us inform that, former Bihar CM Lalu Yadav has already been found guilty in the other four cases (Dumka, Deoghar and Chaibasa) related to the fodder scam. In this, he has been sentenced to a total of 14 years of imprisonment. At the same time, he has to pay 60 lakh rupees as fine.

Let us tell you that when Lalu Yadav was sentenced earlier, he was admitted to RIMS and sometimes in Delhi AIIMS in the name of being ill. But when he was released on bail after half the sentence, Lalu was also seen running the jeep and campaigning after coming out. However, now it has to be seen whether Lalu Yadav goes to jail after getting the sentence of 5 years, or does he camp in the hospital on the pretext of illness.
