Lucknow: The kin of the farmers killed in the violence in Lakhimpur in Uttar Pradesh have moved to the Supreme Court. The kin of the deceased farmers has moved the Supreme Court opposing the grant of bail to the Lakhimpur case accused Ashish Mishra. Ashish Mishra was granted bail by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. It was only after the court's decision that the farmers' families opposed the decision and said to challenge the order.

On October 3 last year, a car belonging to a convoy of BJP leaders had rammed into farmers protesting against the three farm laws in Lakhimpur. The name of Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, had cropped up in the case. Several days later, Ashish Mishra was arrested and then sent to jail. However, now Ashish Mishra has been granted bail, which some farmers are protesting against.
