In a special initiative marking the completion of her second year as President, Droupadi Murmu took on the role of educator for Class 9 students at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya in Delhi. During this unique session, President Murmu engaged with the students on critical topics like global warming and environmental conservation.

The President began by sharing her personal experiences, illustrating the stark contrast between her rural upbringing and the urban environment of Delhi. She recounted her early days in a village where traditional practices were commonplace, such as cooking over wood fires and the respectful treatment of trees. Her father, she explained, would bow to trees before cutting them, a gesture of gratitude for their resources. This tradition reflected a deep respect for nature, which President Murmu emphasized as a valuable lesson for today.

Murmu discussed her observations of air pollution in Delhi, noting how people wore masks to cope with the poor air quality. She urged the students to take collective action against environmental issues, such as air pollution and global warming. Her message included practical advice on water conservation, such as reducing wastage and implementing rainwater harvesting, and the importance of planting trees to combat climate change.

By sharing her father's reverence for nature and contrasting it with modern practices, Murmu aimed to inspire the students to adopt a more respectful and proactive approach towards environmental conservation. Her session was not only a reflection on her own life but also a call to action for the younger generation to take responsibility for preserving the planet.
