The food ministry has extended the deadline for linking ration cards with Aadhaar till September 30, amid problems arising on the content of food and drink. Actually, despite the government's repeated calls, so far there are crores of ration cardholders, which have not been linked to Aadhaar.
In an official statement issued by the ministry on this matter, it has been said that all the state governments and union territories have been given the responsibility of linking the ration card with the Aadhaar number, based on the notification of the Department of Food and Public Distribution, on 7 February 2017. . This notification has been revised from time to time. Now its deadline has been extended to 30 September 2020. This means that now the process of adding ration card and Aadhaar will continue till September 30.

In such a situation, the government is giving many discounts, so that people do not have to face trouble. According to the Food Ministry, unless the Ministry issues clear instructions to all the states and union territories, no rightful beneficiary will be denied the ration of its share. Also, no ration card will not be canceled due to not having an Aadhaar number. According to the central government, there are more than 80 crore beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the country.
