NEW DELHI: Four flyovers now being built by the Delhi government will be finished by the end of the year, said PWD Minister Atishi. She assessed the development of many flyover projects that are currently being worked on in Delhi during a meeting with senior public works department officials.
A six-lane flyover between Anand Vihar and the Apsara border, a double-decker flyover at the Ghonda-Brijpuri intersection, the enlargement of the flyover from Punjabi Bagh to Raja Garden, the flyover at the Sarai Kale Khan-T junction and the underpass at Mukarba Chowk are among the projects.
"All of these initiatives will carry out Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's goal of eliminating traffic congestion in Delhi. Thousands of daily commuters will no longer have to deal with traffic thanks to the completion of these projects, which are crucial for easing traffic. said Atishi, the PWD is working around the clock to guarantee that the projects are finished on schedule.
She continued by saying that the Kejriwal administration is the only one in the nation to complete projects on schedule and for less money overall, saving millions of rupees. The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that "even these projects will save the public hundreds of crores of rupees each year."
She gave the officials the order to set monthly goals for all active flyover projects and to meet those goals on schedule. A monthly progress report should be sent directly to her, she added.
By July, the flyover at the Sarai Kale Khan T-junction will be completed. The Sarai Kale Khan T-junction will become a signal-free corridor as a result of its completion, relieving the thousands of vehicles who use this route every day from traffic jams.
Under this project, the flyover from Punjabi Bagh to Raja Garden will be doubled in size and expanded. Both of the current flyovers are one-way, two-lane structures. The project calls for the construction of a new three-lane flyover in addition to the expansion of the two currently existing flyovers to make them two-way.
On Road Number-56, a six-lane flyover with a length of roughly 1,440 metres is being built between the Anand Vihar road overbridge (ROB) and the Apsara border ROB. People will no longer have to endure the numerous traffic jams at the red light at Ramprastha Colony, Vivek Vihar, and Shreshtha Vihar after it is built. By year's end, this flypast will also be completed.
At the Karawal Nagar-Ghonda-Brijpuri crossroads in northeastern Delhi, a double-decker flyover is being built to span the 1.4 km between Yamuna Vihar and Bhajanpura. While the upper deck will have a metro line, the lower deck will be a four-lane flyover.
The majority of the work on the Pragati Maidan Corridor Development project has already been completed, and it is anticipated that it will be finished by the end of July.
By the year's end, an underpass connecting Mukarba Chowk and Haiderpur will also be finished. Currently, motorists travelling in the direction of Badli or the Outer Ring Road must turn around at Mukarba Chowk before heading back in the direction of Shalimar Bagh, but after this subway is finished, their travel time will be cut by 1.5 kilometres.
