The Supreme Court of India has directed to pay the 25 lakh rupees deposited for the visit of the workers returning to their village from Mumbai to the relatives of the five workers who lost their lives during the journey. A lawyer had deposited the said amount in the registry of the Supreme Court.

For your information, let us tell you that the bench of Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice SK Kaul and Justice MR Shah said in their order that the petitioner (lawyer) has said in his application that while returning the money he had deposited in the registry, The families of the laborers who lost their lives should be distributed as compensation.

In its statement, the bench said that the names of five workers who lost their lives have been given in the petition. The petitioner has requested to give the above amount to their families. Counsel for petitioner Shagir Ahmad Khan told the bench that he would provide detailed information including the residential addresses of the families of these five laborers in two weeks. At the same time, after getting the above information from the registry of the apex court, the bench has asked to complete all the formalities and give money to the relatives of the laborers. The bench said that following its June 4 order, the petitioner had deposited Rs 25 lakh. The lawyer had said that this amount should be used as a fare for laborers returning from Mumbai to Sant Kabir Nagar and other places in Uttar Pradesh.
