May 07, 2016: The train services between Banihal and Srinagar were suspended by railway authorities for the day because, “ Law and Order situation “in south Kahmir’s Pulwama district following the killing of three militants in an encounter with security forces”

As per the Railway official, "The train service has been postponed for today due to the prevailing law and order situation in Pulwama where from the trains pass towards Banihal,"

He said, “The result was taken in view of worries of protests in the area which may have lead to harm to railway property.”

Smashes exploded in Pulwama town later the news of death of three Hizbul Mujahideen militants in the encounter at Panzgam early today.

Police official added, “the protestors pelted stones on forces who fired tear smoke shells in retaliation”

He said, “ the situation is being brought under control.”

The railway official further added, “the authorities would assess the situation later in the day to decide on whether to restart the services tomorrow or no”
