The former President of FC Barcelona has been detained on Monday morning by Mossos d'ESquadra (Catalonia Police). Police have conducted an investigation and seizure on Monday in the club premises in Barcelona in connection with the Barcaget scandal. Apart from him, former CEO Oscar Gray and legal head Roman Gomez Ponty have also been detained from Camp Nou and were taken to the local police station.

During his time as the club's president, Bartomeu allegedly contracted a marketing agency called I3 Ventures and engaged in monitoring the social activities of the players. The company was asked to post negative comments on the players, who would condemn Bartomeu and promote the image of club officials. Some current club players are also present. In the summer of 2020, a Barcelona court ordered the police to visit the club offices and continue the charges. However, an external audit rejected the role of the board, known as Bergamete or Barcaget.

But after a judge in the 13th Barcelona Investigation Court opened in judicial inquiry, Dignitas Blaugrana accepted the stage complaint. Bartomeu and his board considered the allegations. However, amid intense condemnation and scrutiny, he stepped down from his post in October. A no-confidence motion was brought against him, but he has already resigned.
