Former Congress MP Annu Tandon jailed for two years, know why

New Delhi: Former Congress MP Annu Tandon has been sentenced to two years in prison. Annu Tandon has been sentenced for stopping the train during a dharna. Unnao's then Congress district president Suryanarayan Yadav, city president Amit Shukla, state president of the Youth Congress Committee, has also been sentenced to two years in jail. The court also imposed a fine of 25,000 rupees each on all these convicts. MP MLA Court Judge Pawan Rai has sentenced punishment for all the convicts.

Earlier on June 12, 2017, RPF had registered an FIR. All these protestors had climbed the train engine on the eastern edge of Unnao station. The train was late for 12 minutes due to this demonstration. All the exhibitors were led by Annu Tandon. The case was filed in the court in 2018 and after investigation, RPF Sub Inspector Mithlesh Kumar Yadav had filed a charge sheet against the accused in Section 174(a) of the Railway Act.

In August 2018, the court took cognizance of the charge sheet and started the trial of the case. Annu Tandon, who recently resigned from the Congress party's primary membership, was in the presence of Samajwadi Party's national president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav.
