Former IAS officer Manoj Srivastava dies due to corona

Patna: Retired IAS officer of Bihar Manoj Kumar Srivastava died due to corona infection. He was undergoing treatment at Patna AIIMS (AIIMS). He was a 1980 batch IAS officer. He served in important positions including Principal Secretary of Parliamentary Affairs. State Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Governor Fagu Chauhan have mourned the death of Manoj Shrivastava.

The IAS Association paid tribute to his death, saying that, as much as he was always remembered for his administrative skills, he will be remembered for more than the public concern. Former PM and Congress leader Manmohan Singh, as Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, praised Manoj Shrivastava's actions in his Integrated Rural Development Plan. He is given credit for landing the imagination of Bihar Education Project with UNICEF in Bihar.

In 2009, he was the first person to receive a Jamsetji Tata Fellowship. Under this, he completed his study on Pro Poor Governance in India from London School of Economics. He wrote more than a hundred papers in national and international journals.
